Is Your Website Profitable?
By Veronique Topping
When your website is designed to reach your target market, the result can be extremely profitable for your business. For example, if each of your customers generates $1,000 in revenue for your business and your website brings in 20 new customers, your business website will generate $20,000 worth of revenue for your business. To achieve this type of profitable result for your business, it is necessary to invest in a website that reaches your customers and conveys that your business will provide the solutions that address their needs. Using a combination of branding, content, and e-marketing strategies, your website can be a continual source of additional revenue for your business.
Branding
The branding of your website is just as important as the branding of your business when it comes to attracting customers from your target market. The colors, style, and tone of your website should all be chosen to represent your business brand to website visitors and to set your business apart from other businesses in your industry. Because the competition is so great on the internet, distinguishing your business from other businesses online can be the difference that convinces website visitors to use your product or service. Use your website branding to convey your unique selling position to website visitors and to establish your business as the one that can service the customer’s needs.
Content
The content and language used on your website can persuade website visitors to become customers if you convince them that your business can provide solutions for them. As you write content for your website, focus on informing people about the benefits of using your product or service. Use language that has been proven to be effective with your target market and focus on what you want website visitors to do whether you want them to purchase your product or service or contact you for more information. Then, ask them to do it by steering them toward that area of your website.
Because it takes people an average of seven contacts with a business for a person to become a customer, return visits can convert prospects into customers which translates into increased profits for your business. Having compelling content on your website serves the purpose of keeping visitors on your website and returning to your website to read the updated content, so make it a priority to add relevant content to your website. Also, keyword-rich content allows the search engines to index more pages of your website which will increase traffic from potential customers.
E-Marketing
Repeated exposure to your marketing message increases the chances that prospects will become customers who will purchase your product or service. Include an opt-in form / sign-up box on your website that invites visitors to enter their e-mail address to receive valuable information from you. Send articles, tips, free e-books, etc. to customers on a regular basis to keep them on your mailing list so that they will continue to be exposed to your business services and special promotions. Use this opportunity to connect with your customers and to educate them about all of the ways that your business can address their needs.
Each website visitor that becomes a customer represents additional revenue for your business so it is vital to invest in creating a website that uses branding, relevant content, and e-marketing strategies to convert your business prospects into customers.
